A Brief Summary
In Joseph Kim lecture, he use some emotive languages which is inspiring us to believe in hope through his story and how important education has change his life. In first part, he talked about his hard life in the past while he still live in North Korea. He shared how hard he had to struggle to stay alive from starvation because he lived in poor areas. Second part, he talked about how an orphan child could be brave to escape from his country to search his family and to get a better life. He tried to escape to China, but then he realized that there was not better than his country, so that he tried to escape again to the US as an refugee. Last, he points about how education can give him an opportunity to gain a better life and he also mention implicitly how important a family for him to have a motivation in education.
" Hope is personal, Hope is something that no one can give to you" but " that Hope kept me alive" that is a reason why Joseph Kim had motivate to learn English. When he went through how hard life to stay alive from starvation, Joseph Kim realized that his surviving depended on food. However, he wanted to make a food, he must make a lot of money. Therefore his wishes might cook a meal for his father, who had died of starvation. That is Joseph Kim's motivation and promise with his father that he would study hardly and get the best education in American to honour his father sacrifice.

Firstly, learning English maybe the best thing I can do to improve my life. If I learn English better, I can get access to know more knowledge such as Internet, computer, literature, business….which help me know more useful imformations.
Secondly, learning English can communicate with almost people. If I communicate in English, I can contact people from all over the world or maybe do everything.
Finally, If I learn English well, I will choose a better company for my job. And of course, I can make a lot of money.
That is some reason that create my motivation to learn English.
Joseph Kim was motivated to learn English because he saw a million North Koreans died of starvation in 2003 and his father was died in the same year.when he came to America he had new family and his foster father's small act of love reminded him so he was to promise to himself that he would study hard and get the best education in America to honor his sacrifice.
ReplyDeleteMy own motivation for learning English is study pass level 3 and I want to study diploma of Business.
because his father died and his mother left. He only remained his older sister. He loved her very much. At the time he thought about everything, he wanted to cook some food for his father. If he wanted to have a meal he would earn a lot of money. Therefore he has tried to learn English. He didn't want to dead by starvation to like a million North Korean people.
ReplyDeleteThe firstly, I want to speak another language for communicating with overseas people. Currently, English is a common language, which is used around the world.
The secondly, I thought if I want to have a good job and earn a lot of money I should study English really good for my own future and my family
The finally, now I study English course and must pass level 4. Then I am going to study diploma of engineering, which I really like. That is also my dream in the future.

ReplyDeleteWhen young Joseph Kim spoiled because my parents are the only son in the house. The next day, at his house and famine has made his life turned upside down . After missing mother, her sister went to escape the famine that his father died because not enough food. Before his death he wanted his son complete learning to escape from poverty .When he too young to realize he should not care about the wishes of his father . After the orphanage, he had a hard life, it may be a nice family took an adoption. he has touched their hearts and realize the ultimate dream of the hope his father . With the hope of myself and tried, he had completed that dream with the help of those around her.
2.Motivation to learn English:
Firstly, we recognize the importance of English for everyone. Modern English is very rich, it is the common language all over the world.
Secondly, it helps us to raise capital and communicate knowledge. It makes people more active life.
Finally, I am a student currently overseas, I'm from Vietnam and I want to improve knowledge and skills of their more well . At the same time complete their courses which apply to get 1 more stable future .
He points about how education can give him an opportunity to gain a better life and he also mention implicitly how important a family for him to have a motivation in education.He promised to hisself that he would study hard and get the best education in America to honor his sacrifice and he hoped to meet his mother and sister soon.

I want to improve my skills so I go to Australia to learn because Australia has a good education.I hope to find a good job with high salary after I finish my course.

ReplyDeleteJoseph Kim motivated to learn English when his foster father had given him the last chiken wing. And he remembered his biological father. I remembered my biological father. His foster father's small act of love reminded him of his father, who would love to share his father food with him when his father was hungry, even if he was starving. And he also thought of what else he could do to honor his father.
And why?? because he want to honor his father sacrifice.
question 2: what is your own motivation for learning English??
i want to have a good job in future. so firstly, i must learn English because English is popular language in the world. and that's what my mother would want to do.

ReplyDeleteOne day, he came home and his foster mother had made chicken wings for dinner. When he looked down at his plate, he saw the last chicken wing, that his foster father had given his. he was so happy. Suddenly he remembered his biological father. His father would love to share his father food with his when his father was hungry. His only wish that night was to cook a meal for his father, and that night he also thought of what else he could do to honor his father. And he think he would study hard and get the best education in America to honor his father sacrifice.
2.what is your own motivation for learning English?
In my opinion, nowadays, English is the most popular language in the world. On the other hand, I am an overseas student. So I must study English well and then it can help me to adapt to the new environment in a good way. In addition, I can find a suitable job for myself. So I have a lot of motivation of myself for learning English.

ReplyDeletehis answer was to promise to himself that he would study hard and get the best education in America to honor his sacrifice so he took school seriously, and for the first time ever in his life, he received an academic award for excellence, and made dean's list from the first semester in high school.
Also, his foster father at that dinner gave me a direction, and he motivated to him and gave him a purpose to live in America

I hope better than life. It is very hard dream due to now a day need many things among them onething is Eenglish so i am learning English. Also, my father want thet i study hard to my success.

ReplyDeleteTo begin with i have enjoyed listening to this autobiography it is about a young man called Joseph Kim he comes from north korea and he telling us about his hard days from his past since his father passed he had a very hard and painfull life living with his eldest sister. Joseph has been admiring his sister frome what he lived and felt made him a success full person at present . His aim is to complete his studies . I belive that we are living in his same situation trying to study a foreign language but i have learned his from this story that dreams may come true.

there are every day seaching fire wood at 5 am and come to home at milld night.
one day, his gamliy balaton money go to china. However, he didn`t meet family for a long time. He suddenly orphaned. so he does sear to eat and begging one day.his father came to home. he is very happy. but his father say ``you go to amalica``.
he didn`t study hard enough to go to the Amarica.
one day, how did he have to studyhard .. his new famliy gave a warm.
